Jamaat’s violence contempt of court, says MKA

CHITTAGONG: Home Minister MK Alamgir on Thursday categorically said the violent activities conducted by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami following verdict of the Supreme Court is not only a sedition but also contempt of court.

The ruling Awami League lawmaker came up with the observation while addressing a programme in Chittagong Coast Guard west zone office.

Regarding the next general elections, he said, “We are committed to protect the constitution. So, election will be held in time as per the constitution.”

Addressing the function, US ambassador to Dhaka Dan W Mozena said US is the reliable partner of Bangladesh and it wants to be the development partner of the country.

A 378-feet long vessel would be given to Bangladesh NAVY on behalf of the US in 2014, he added.

Coastguard Director General Rear Admiral Kazi Sarwar Hossain and lawmaker Saifuzzaman Chowdhury were among others were present at the function.
