DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has ruled out BNP leaders’ allegation that nomination forms of their candidates have been cancelled with an evil intention to get them out of the political scene.
“Awami League has no intention to eradicate BNP. Rather, BNP has repeatedly plotted to uproot the Bangabandhu family,” he said.
Quader, also the minister for road, transport & bridges, briefed reporters at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s political office in Dhanmondi, on Tuesday (Dec 4).
Indicating BNP chairperson, he further said: she (Khaleda Zia) embezzled the money of orphans and had to face case consequently. Awami League has no interference into the court’s decision.
“We have no intention to remove Zia family. Why do we will go for it! BNP is a major party. It won’t be a loss for us if the party acts as the opposition in democratic politics,” he added.
Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Dipu Moni and Organizing Secretary AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem, among others, were present there.
