DHAKA: BNP aspirants Golam Maula Roni, Abu Ashfaque, Morshed Miltan, Faridul Kabir Talukder Shamim and Tamijuddin have gained back their candidacies to run for the 11th general election.
The Election Commission on Thursday (December 6) has cleared the candidacy of Golam Maula Roni from Patuakhali-3, Morshed Miltan from Bogura-7, Abu Ashfaque from Dhaka-1, Md Tamijuddin from Dhaka-20 and Faridul Kabir Talukder Shamim from Jamalpur-4 during hearing at its Agargaon office this morning.
Roni, who was a former Awami League lawmaker, will compete in the upcoming general elections with BNP ticket.
The EC started hearing appeals of candidates whose nomination papers were rejected by Returning Officers earlier and it will continue till completion of hearing of the last number. A total of 543 appeal petitions were submitted.
Chief Election Commissioner and other commissioners are holding the hearing.
Returning officers rejected 786 nomination papers while declaring 2,279 candidates qualified across the country out of total 3,065, submitted by aspirants in 300 constituencies.
The 11th national elections are stated for December 30.
