DHAKA: BNP Central Organizing Secretary Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu was arrested from his residence in Gulshan of the capital city Wednesday (Dec 12). 

Contacted, BNP leader Shamsul Alam Rony claimed Detective Branch (DB) police detained Dulu around 11am.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner Md Mahbub Alam also confirmed the matter to banglanews.

“BNP leader Dulu has been arrested following an arrest warrant against him in a case,” he said.

Dulu’s nomination form for the upcoming elections was rejected by the Returning officer on Dec 2. He pleaded to the High Court to get back the nomination.

Later, the HC ordered the Election Commission (EC) to accept his candidacy.

Afterwards, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court stayed the HC order following an appeal of the EC.
