SYLHET: Jatiya Oikyafront will not hold any electioneering rally, but carry out campaigns for party nominated candidates after offering prayers at the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA) in Sylhet on Wednesday (December 12).
As per the pre-schedule, a rally, led by Dr Kamal Hossen, was set to be held at registry field in Sylhet city at 2 pm on Wednesday.
“Though, we’re prepared for rallies, but will not hold. Only senior Oikyafront leaders will form public gathering, said Ajmal Bakht Sadek, Acting General Secretary of BNP Sylhet Metropolitan unit.
Dr Kamal, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President ASM Abdur Rob and Krishak Sramik Janata League President Kader Siddiqui have reached Sylhet.
Jatiya Oikyafront held its 1st rally in Sylhet on October 24.
BNP allocated 17 seats to Jatiya Oikyafront alliance partners, which are Gonoforum, Nagorik Oikya and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Rab), to contest in the upcoming 11th national elections.
Gonoforum got 7 seats while Nagorik Oikya and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Rab) got 5 seats each.
It also allocated 5 seats among its 20-party alliance component Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
Kader Siddiqui-led Krishak Sramik Janata League is also a partner of the alliance.
