DHAKA: Opposition alliance Jatiya Oikyafront top leader Dr Kamal Hossain has said the country earned independence but the countrymen hasn’t get liberation yet.
“Our movement-struggle should keep continued for liberty of the people,” he said.
Dr Kamal made the remarks after paying tribute to the Liberation War martyrs by placing floral wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar, marking 48th Victory Day on Sunday (Dec 16).
“Lakhs of people sacrificed their lives in the Liberation War. The doctrines of democracy, socialism, and secularism—which were aims of the martyrs, haven’t been fulfilled. We have to work to fulfill those aims. For that, we have become united with the people of the country,” he said.
He also demanded evaluation of longing of the martyrs—rule of law, democracy and human rights.
BNP standing committee members Nazrul Islam Khan and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal President ASM Abdur Rab were among other Oikyafront leaders present there.
