TANGAIL: Abdul Latif Siddiqui, an independent candidate for Tangail-4 constituency, started a sit-in protesting the attack on his motorcade during his election campaign in Tangail.
Siddiqui, a former minister of Awami League regime, started the protest in front of Tangail’s Returning Officer’s Office since Sunday noon (December 16).
Earlier in the day at 12 pm, his motorcade came under attack from supporters of Awami League at Gohalia union of Kalihati upazila.
Siddiqui went on a strike on the road of deputy commissioner officer from 2 pm onwards.
He, then, pitched a tent at 6 pm to sleep, and will not give up the protest until his demands are met.
Latif Siddiqui demanded arrest of the attackers and expressed dissatisfaction with Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalihati police station Mir Mosharraf Hossen.
