JL-BCL clash hurt 35 in Laxmipur

LAXMIPUR: At least 35 people were injured in a clash between Juba League (JL) and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) over assaulting a college student in Satarpara-Nandanpur and Sonapur villages under Ramganj upazila on Saturday noon.

Locals said Juba league and Chhatra League men locked into sporadic clashes with firearms and locally made sharp weapons from 11:30am, leaving 35 people injured.

The warring groups also vandalized 10 shops during the chase and counter chase of, witnesses added.

The injured were rushed to local clinics including Upazila Health Complex.

On information, police rushed to the spot and lobbed tear shells to bring the situation under control. Extra law enforcers were deployed in the area.

Ramganj police station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Reza Mahbub confirmed the matter to banglanews.
