DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) announced its 19-point election manifesto with pledges to increase GDP growth by 11 percent, ensure freedom of speech and freedom of judiciary, building a revenge-free country and decentralization of power.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, secretary general of BNP, unveiled its manifesto at the party’s Nayapaltan central office on Tuesday (Dec 18) ahead of the 11th national elections slated for December 30.
It has also pledged to make democracy an everyday practice, introduce the provision as if a person can not rule the country more than two terms if BNP is voted to power.
In its charter, Fakhrul said the party will take no revenge against anyone if voted to power.
The party put major emphasis on pledges of introducing unemployment allowance, declaring Freedom Fighters as respected citizens, creating opportunities for education and employment, forming pension fund, doing work for the welfare of backward community.
BNP Standing Committee members Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury were, among others, present.
