DHAKA: Jatiya Oikyafront leader and Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossain informed diplomats from 30 countries about the country’s ongoing political situation ahead of the 11th national elections, slated for December 30.
Representatives of 30 countries, including US Ambassador Robert Miller and Canada, Denmark, Britain, China, Turkey, Japan, Indonesia, Pakistan, India and European Union were present in the meeting held at a hotel in Gulshan on Wednesday (Dec 19).
When contacted, BNP executive committee member Jeba Amin Khan told Banglanews that Oikyafront leaders briefed the diplomats about the present polls situation, attacks on candidates of opposition alliance and cases filed against them.
“We also presented video footages of recent spate of attacks. But diplomats did not make any comments during the briefing”, she added.
BNP Standing Committee Member and also chief of its election monitoring committee Nazrul Islam Khan, Gono Forum Executive President Subrata Chowdhury, BNP chairperson's adviser Sabihuddin Ahmed, International Affair’s Secretary Masud Ahmed Talukder, among others, were present in the meeting.
