Oikyafront aspirant Fazle Rabbi dies

GAIBANDHA: Dr TIM Fazle Rabbi Chowdhury, an Oikyafront candidate from Gaibandha-3 (Palashbari-Sadullapur) constituency, passed away on Thursday (December 20).

He breathed his last around 2:20 am at city’s United Hospital where he was admitted earlier after complaining of chest pains. 

Fazle Rabbi had been suffering from various diseases including bronchitis and high blood pressure.

He joined Jatiya Party in 1984.

Fazle Rabbi was elected MP from Jatiya Party from Gaiba
ndha-3 constituency for six times in 1986, 1988, 1991, 1996, 2001 and 2008.

He was also political adviser of former President Hussain Mohammad Ershad. 

Besides, Fazle Rabbi worked as a professor at Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh.

He was born at Talukjamira village under Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha on October 1, 1934.

Among 6 brothers and 2 sisters, Fazle Rabbi was the second sibling.  

He left behind his wife, three sons, two daughters and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
