DHAKA: Golam Maula Rony, the BNP-nominated candidate for Patuakhali-3, was sued in a case filed under the Digital Security Act over a phone conversation which earlier leaked on social media.
Mehedi Masud, an associate professor of Galachipa Mohila College, joint-convener of the ruling Awami League’s election unit filed the case with Galachipa Police Station on Thursday (Dec 21) night.
Apart from Rony, District BNP vice president Shahjahan Khanm, Rony’s brother Sarwar Hossian, brother-in-law Makbul Hossain and two others were sued in the case, Akhtar Morshed, officer in charge of Galachipa Police Station, told banglanews.
According to the case statement, a phone conversation of Rony has been leaked where he instructed his supporters to cordon off a police station and file a case against more than 100 activists of Awami League and its candidate, the OC added.
