Oikyafront announces 5-day program Oikyafront leaders

DHAKA: Jatiya Oikyafront, the main opposition alliance, has announced fresh five days of programs ahead of the 11th national election slated for December 30.

Jaglul Haider Afrik, Steering Committee member of the alliance, made the announcement through a press conference in city on Friday (December 21).

The alliance is set to hold a rally and a march at each constituency of Dhaka from December 21-24, as per the program schedule.

Besides, a rally is scheduled to be held around 2 pm at Suhrawardy Udyan on December 27.

BNP Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo, Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Gano Forum Executive President Subrata Chowdhury, General Secretary Mustafa Mohsin Montu, Presidium Member Mokbbir Hossain and others were present at the press conference.

The alliance was formed on October 13.         

Jatiya Oikyafront includes Dr Kamal Hossain-led Gano Forum, ASM Abdur Rab's Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Mahmudur Rahman Manna's Nagorik Oikya, Bangabir Kader Siddique-led Krishak Sramik Janata League, and BNP

Kader Siddique joined the alliance on November 5.

The alliance was formed with the demands of a national election under a neutral government after dissolution of parliament and release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.

The alliance held rallies in Sylhet, Dhaka, Chattogram, and Rajshahi before announcement of final candidates.

BNP allocated 17 seats to Jatiya Oikyafront alliance partners, which are Gano Forum, Nagorik Oikya and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Rab), to contest in the upcoming 11th national elections.

Gano Forum got 7 seats while Nagorik Oikya and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Rab) got 5 seats each.

BNP also allocated 5 seats among its 20-party alliance component Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).
