No Jamaat candidate in polls, claims BNP Nazrul Islam Khan speaking to reporters

DHAKA:  BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan claimed that there is no Jamaat-e-Islami candidate contesting in the 11th national election slated for December 30.

“BNP’s symbol 'Sheaf of Paddy' is given to them. Jamaat didn't nominate them, but BNP," he said.

The BNP leader told reporters after placing some demands before Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda at Nirbachan Bhaban on Saturday (December 22).

In response to question that BNP nominated candidates’ names and posts are mentioned in the official website of Jamaat, the BNP leader said, “They are not only candidates of 'Sheaf of Paddy,' but also BNP nominated candidates too.”

Nazrul Islam Khan said, “Let’s forget about names and posts in the website. If you seek nomination from us, we can give. It’s up to decide later which website contains your name. What we can give according to law is what matters.”

Jamaat is not a registered party. Besides, we don’t have the list of people who do politics of Jamaat, Nazrul Islam Khan also said.
