KHULNA:   Jatiya Oikyafront, the major opposition alliance, has announced to hold a two-day program in Khulna city ahead of the 11th national election.

On Wednesday (December 26), an election rally, in support of Sheaf of paddy (electoral symbol of BNP), will be brought out at 3 pm from party office in Khulna.

All the leaders and activists of Oikyafront, 20-party alliance, BNP and its co-fronts were asked to join the program.  

On Friday (December 28), a ‘Doa Dibos’ (prayer mahfil) will be held after Friday prayer seeking a terrorist-free election to the Almighty.

All the city dwellers were requested to join the doa mahfil. Besides, a meeting is also set to be held at 10:30 am in front of Khulna party office.

Nazrul Islam Manju, Oikyafront nominated candidate for Khulna-2 constituency, announced the program on Tuesday (December 25). 

Metropolitan BNP’s assistant office secretary Shamsuzzaman Chanchal confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

The alliance was formed on October 13.         

Jatiya Oikyafront includes Dr Kamal Hossain-led Gano Forum, ASM Abdur Rab's Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Mahmudur Rahman Manna's Nagorik Oikya, Bangabir Kader Siddique-led Krishak Sramik Janata League, and BNP

Kader Siddique joined the alliance on November 5.

The alliance was formed with the demands of a national election under a neutral government after dissolution of parliament and release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.

The alliance held rallies in Sylhet, Dhaka, Chattogram, and Rajshahi before announcement of final candidates.

BNP allocated 17 seats to Jatiya Oikyafront alliance partners, which are Gonoforum, Nagorik Oikya and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Rab), to contest in the upcoming 11th national election.

Gono Forum got 7 seats while Nagorik Oikya and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Rab) got 5 seats each.

BNP also allocated 5 seats among its 20-party alliance component Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).

The 11th national election is slated for December 30.
