Oikyafront leaders hold emergency meeting

DHAKA: Jatiya Oikyafront leaders have sat in an emergency meeting to discuss about current political issues at BNP Chairperson khaleda Zia’s political office in city’s Gulshan.

The meeting began at 7 pm on Tuesday (December 25).

Oikyafront leaders- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, Bangabir Kader Siddique, and others are present at the meeting.

The emergency meeting was called for after Dr Kamal Hossain’s unfriendly meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda earlier in the day.

The major opposition alliance walked out of a meeting with CEC raising allegation of unmannerly behavior.

Gonoshasthya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury said they informed the CEC about the ‘biased role’ of police that hindering opposition candidates’ polls campaign.

“When we had requested CEC to control the ‘unruly police’ men, he blasted on our leaders. So, we walked out of the meeting,” he added.
