DHAKA: Jatiya Oikyafront leaders alleged that the policemen are playing the roles of ruling party’s ‘cadre force’ and carrying out attacks on the candidates of the opposition alliance. 

The alliance organized a press briefing at Oikyafront’s central office in Purana Paltan, at 5:30pm Wednesday (Dec 26).

“At present, in such an independent country, the role of police is very unfortunate,” said said Oikyafront Steering committee member Jaglul Haider Afrik. 

“Carrying out harassment and attacks by the ruling party men and police on the candidates of ‘paddy sheaf’ and its leaders and activists are increasing,” 

“But the Election Commission (EC) is evading the truth,” he added.

“Some super influenced policemen and administrative officials are continuing case filing and arrests,” said BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal.

Gono Forum Executive President Subrata Chowdhury, and General Secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu, among others, also briefed the press.
