Tangail-5 JP candidate’s vehicles vandalized The damaged SUV and microbus

TANGAIL: Miscreants vandalized two private vehicles of Jatiya Party candidate for Tangail-5 constituency Shafiullah Al Munir on Wednesday (Dec 26).

Four persons sustained injuries in the incident.

A group of unidentified miscreants vandalized a SUV and a microbus while one of Munir’s uncles was on the SUV, en route to the Mosque Road after withdrawing Tk 50 lakh from a bank, in the afternoon, said the candidate.

Another person came to scene by another vehicle and attempted to snatch the money from Munir’s uncle Meer Mohabbat Hossain.

Munir said he will file a case against the followers of Awami League candidate for the same constituency, over the incident. 

Witnesses said a group of some 15-20 persons took part in vandalizing the vehicles with sharp weapons and iron rods. They also beat up the persons boarded on the two vehicles. 

Tangail Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Parvez Rahman visited the spot.

Legal action will be taken over the incident, Tangail Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ahaduzzaman told banglanews.

The injured were taken to Tangail General Hospital.
