THAKURGAON: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the attacks were being carried out on his party men and candidates of the 11th national elections with the help of state machinery.

Fakhrul made the allegation while talking to the reporters at his Kalibari residence in Thakurgaon town Thursday (Dec 27) morning.

“I have been telling you over few days that this elections is a farcical one. Because, there is no congenial environment for voting,” he said.

“Attacks are being carried out on our top leaders and candidates for last few days. It is very unfortunate that the tasks are being carried out in favor from the state machinery,” he added.  

The BNP leader said he saw miscreants brandishing large arms and machetes openly in his Thakurgaon-1 polling area. 

“Whenever I enter various localities, I hear about the Awami League terrorists give threats for not letting go to the polling centers,” he added.

Thakurgaon district unit BNP leaders accompanied Fakhrul during the media brief.
