PANCHAGARH: The wife of Awami Leaue candidate for the 11th national polls from Panchagarh-2 constituency Advocate Nurul Islam Sujon has died Saturday (Dec 29), on the eve of Election Day.

She was 55.

Nilufar Islam breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital around 12pm.

Thakurgaon district unit Chhatra League President Akhtaruzzman Akter confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

Nilufar was suffering from pneumonia.

She was admitted to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital on Dec 23 and later shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) the next day.  

Afterwards, she was brought to Dhaka by an air ambulance Friday (Dec 28).

She was kept on life support till Saturday morning.  

Thakurgaon district unit Awami League leaders expressed deep shock at the death of Nilufar.
