AL rejects Oikyafront’s demand of reelection Awami League spokesperson Abdur Rahman briefs media at the party president's Dhanmondi office.

DHAKA: Awami League has totally rejected opposition alliance Jatiya Oikyafront’s demand of holding the 11th national elections again, said the winning party Joint General Secretary Abdur Rahman.

“We are rejecting their demand in a whole. Their demand of reelection is illogical and anti-constitutional,” he told reporters.

“Oikyafront has taken stance against the verdict of people by raising the demand. Therefore, we request them to withdraw their concerned speech,” he added.

The Awami League spokesperson was addressing media at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s Political Office in Dhanmondi Monday (Dec 31).

However, top leaders of BNP’s political alliance Jatiya Oikyfront demanded a fresh election cancelling the Dec 30 voting, under a non-partisan government.

They came up with the demand nearly four and a half hours after the voting.
