DHAKA: Citing allegations of ballot rigging and irregularities in the just-concluded 11th national election, Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikyafront submitted memorandum to Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda demanding re-election under a non-partisan government.
A team led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir submitted memorandum at Nirbachan Bhaban on Thursday (January 3).
While submitting the memorandum, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said: “Election Commission had no control at any stage on the field level, which was manifested through a statement of a commissioner.”
Folks, Fakhrul also said, have been deprived of the franchise for long 10 years by means of deception and corruption. The EC must bear that liability once again.
Mirza Fakhrul said,” EC, through this election, has mocked the nation. The nation is being dragged into darkness. That’s why we rejected, and we demand re-election emphatically.”
The main opposition alliance won only 7 seats in 11th national election held on December 30, 2018.
