DHAKA: Jatiya Oikyafront top leader Dr Kamal Hossain said allying with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to take part in the 11th parliamentary elections was a mistake for the opposition alliance.

“It has been an unintentional mistake to ally with Jamaat. (I) have never did politics with Jamaat and won’t do that in future too. I wasn’t informed about (the participation of) Jamaat when I gave consent to Oikya,” he said.

“It was a mistake in Oikyafront’s formation,” he added.

Dr Kamal Hossain, also the president of Gono Forum, made the remarks at a media brief at his party’s central office in Arambagh, Dhaka Saturday (Jan 12). 

Gono Forum will hold its National Council in Dhaka on January 23-24, he informed the briefing.
