SYLHET: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the allies of opposition alliance Jatiya Oikyafront have some common agenda in a bid to realize people’s rights.
“Jatiya Oikyafront remains strong at its goal. The political parties may have difference of opinion. But some agenda are common—ensuring voting rights, freeing Khaleda Zia and other leaders and activists and withdrawing false cases,” he said.
Mirza Fakhrul was talking to the reporters after offering ziarat at the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) in Sylhet on Monday (Jan 14).
Regarding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s recent invitation to the political parties for dialogue, he said it won’t be fruitful if the dialogue holds similar like the previous one.
He said the agenda of the premier’s dialogue should be cleared at first so that the opposition can take part in it.
“We have the same demand—an impartial election should be arranged cancelling the recently-held one,” he added.
Oikyafront leaders Mirza Fakhrul, Kader Siddique, Advocate Subrata Chowdhury and ASM Abdur Rab, among others, went Sylhet at noon.
They offered ziarats at the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) and Hazrat Shahparan (R) and visited the family members of slain Chhatra Dal leader Sayem Ahmed Sohel in Balaganj.
