AL starts nomination form sale for women reserved seats Presence of party leaders, activists and aspirants in and around the Dhanmondi office created a festive look.

DHAKA: Ruling Awami League has started selling nomination forms for the 11th parliament seats reserved for women.

Party general secretary Obaidul Quader inaugurated the sale at the political office of the party president Sheikh Hasina in Dhanmondi, at 10am Tuesday (Jan 15).

The sale will continue till Jan 18.

Two booths were opened at the office from where the aspirants can collects forms from 10am to 4pm each day.

The time can be extended if needed after Jan 18, said Awami League’s committee for nomination sale member Arifuzzaman Mia Tutul.

Election Commission (EC) is set to announce the polls schedule for the 50 reserved seats on Feb 17. Before that, the political parties will be asked whether they are interested to participate in the elections as alliances or singly.

The parties have to inform the EC their decision by Jan 30, said EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed.

Date of the voting will be announced after scrutinizing the submitted forms.
