DHAKA: The candidates will run with party symbols, not alliance in elections to upcoming upazila councils, scheduled to begin from first week of March in five phases.

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges minister Obaidul Quader came up with remarks while addressing the extended meeting of AL at convention center in the city on Tuesday (Jan 15).
 
“Next upazila council elections will be held with party symbols. We never hold the local govt elections under alliance. It will not this time too”, he further said.

While addressing the meeting as chief guest, Obaidul Quader said Next upazila council elections will be held using party symbols. For AL aspirants, party president will sent list of three aspirants. From them, upazila election nomination of AL will finalize one. 

Asked about dialogue with political parties, he said “I never give any speech about dialogue. You can check the audio and video clippings of that remark of mine. And demand for dialogue over fresh polls is just ridiculous”.
