SUHRAWARDY UDYAN: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina thanked countrymen for bringing Awami League to power for the third straight time by voting ‘boat’ in Dec 30 national elections. 

“Thank you all—those who voted for us and those who didn’t,” she said.

“But, we will work for everyone, as we have got the opportunity to form government, to serve people,” added the Awami League president at the grand rally held at Suhrawardy Udyan to celebrate her party’s landslide victory in the 11th national elections.

Formalities of the rally started at 2:30pm Saturday (Jan 19).

Sheikh Hasina joined the rally flanked by her party leaders around 3pm.

In the elections, people of the country have given their verdict against terrorism, militancy, drug menace and corruption, she said.

Hundreds of thousands of Awami League activists and supporters participated in the rally chaired by their party chief Sheikh Hasina.
