DHAKA: The High Court asked trial court to dispose of bail petition filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Feb 4 in an arson case filed in Chauddagram in 2015.
The bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Zafar Ahmed on Wednesday (Jan 23) passed the order.
The HC asked the Cumilla court which deferred the hearing of BNP Chairperson Khaleda's bail petition for four times in the arson case.
Earlier on January 16, additional district and session judge of Cumilla Md Ali Akbar deferred the bail hearing granting the time extension plea filed by prosecution.
During the BNP-led alliance's movement early on February 3 in 2015, eight people were killed and 20 others injured as miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus at Jogmohanpur in Chouddagram.
Two cases were filed with Chouddagram police station on February 3 night.
