DHAKA: Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud termed the report of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) about rising of corruption in Bangladesh as 'inaccurate and politically-motivated'.
"TIB is one of such organisations whose work is to tarnish image of our country and its people by releasing inaccurate report," the minister told a briefing at Secretariat on Wednesday (Jan 30).
Trashing the report, the information minister, who is also the publicity and publication secretary of ruling Awami League, said, “They published this flawed report to get a foreign fund aiming to keep their existence through blind criticism, humiliating the country and its people”.
“They have not yet apologized even after their reports on Padma Bridge were proved wrong. Recently, TIB released a report on the 11th parliamentary elections, though they were not observers in the polls”.
“It prepared flawed report appointing some biased persons, businessmen and committee. There was 80 percent similarity between report made by the TIB and comments by the BNP”, Hasan Mahmud added.
“They released the reports to be stay aside with the opposition and humiliate the people of the country,” said the information minister
