DHAKA: Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Sunday (Feb 3) called upon BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront to stay away from negative politics.
“As long as BNP can not come out of negative politics, they will not get people’s mandate”, the minister was addressing a discussion marking the second death anniversary of former presidium member of Awami League.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote arranged the programme at VIP lounge of the National Press Club.
In reply to ASM Rab and Colonel (retd) Oli Ahmed’s remarks 'There is no confidence in the administration, so Oikyafront will not contest in any more election under this administration.” AL Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud said BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront leaders have actually lost their confidence in themselves.
“At first, keep confidence in yourself. If you do not have confidence in yourself, then how will you trust the administration?” he told Rab and Oli.
Boycotting the election in 2014, BNP has moved far away from the people. BNP and Oikyafront have tried to come to the people by participating in the last election.
As BNP and Oikyafront didn’t take the election seriously they had to face huge defeat.
In reply to Mirza Fakhrul’s remark ‘Through the 11th Parliamentary Election, AL has moved far away from the people’ he said not Awami league, it’s BNP which has moved far away from the people because of landslide victory of AL.
With Bangabandhu Sangskritik president actor ATM Shamsuzzaman in the chair, AL Office Secretary Biplob Barua, Dhaka South AL General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad also spoke the programme.
