DHAKA: Ruling Awami League has announced names of its chosen candidates to vie for the chairman race of upazila parishad (first phase).

As per the schedule of Election Commission (EC), the first phase of polls will be held on March 10.

Party General Secretary Obaidul Quader disclosed the names at Awami League president’s party office in Dhanmondi Saturday (Feb 9).

The candidates were named at a joint meeting chaired by Awami League President Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabahban on Friday (Feb 8) afternoon.

For the first phase polls, the last date of submitting nomination form is Feb 11 and the last date of withdrawal is Feb 16. 

The polls will be held in at least 480 upazilas out of 492 in four phases this time.
