Jubo League activist hacked dead in Jashore Mamun Hossain, the deceased.

JASHORE: Unidentified miscreants hacked a 30-year-old activist of Jubo League to death in Sheikhhati Jamrultola area of Jashore suburb Saturday (Feb 9) evening.

Mamun Hossain, 30, the deceased, ran a mobile phone shop.

Besides, a leader of the municipality unit Chhatra League Arif Hossain, 28, sustained severe injuries in the same attack around 7:30pm.

Mamun was hacked to death while he was sitting at one Russel’s tea-stall in Sheikhhati Jamrultola area in the evening, Jashore Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Apurbo Hasan told Banglanews.

What has led to the murder couldn’t be known immediately, he added.

“One Chhoto Sagar, Chewing tobacco worker Hridoy and one Faisal together led by local drug addict-terrorist Abid obstructed Jubo League activist Mamun and demanded extortion,” quoting witnesses, Jashore district unit Chhatra League President Rowshan Iqbal Shahi told Banglanews.

“While municipality unit Chhatra League leader Arif and several others came to his rescue, the terrorists stabbed them with knife and left critically injured. Thus Mamun died on the spot,” he added.

He was declared dead after being taken to hospital.

“Various parts of Mamun’s body carry marks of stabbing and bomb attack,” said Jessore 250-bed General Hospital’s physician Bazlur Rashid.
