DHAKA: Ruling Awami League has announced 122 names of its chosen candidates to vie for the chairman race of upazila parishad (second phase).

Party General Secretary Obaidul Quader disclosed the names at Awami League president’s political office in Dhanmondi Sunday (Feb 10).

The candidates were named at a meeting of Awami League’s Local Government Election Nomination Board Saturday (Feb 9).

The second phase of upazila parishad elections will be held on Mar 18.

This time, the polls will be held in at least 480 upazilas out of 492 in four phases.

The party earlier named 87 chairman candidates for first phase polls slated for Mar 10.
