KHULNA: Five leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Jubo League were killed in a road accident on Rupsa Bridge Bypass road on Sunday (Feb 10) night.

The deceased were identified as Mahmud Hasan Babu, general secretary of BCL unit of Gopalganj district, ASM Sadikul Alam, Jubo League President of Gopalganj, Walid Mahbub Utsab, Deputy Secretary BCL unit of Gopalganj district, Saju Ahmed, Assistant Secretary of District BCL and Aminul Islam Gazi, member of district BCL.

The accident took place when a car carrying the victims heading to Rupsha Bridge collided head-on with a cement-laden truck in front of Labonchara police station around 10:45pm, leaving five dead on the spot, said Labanchata police station OC Md Shafiqul Islam.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital morgue, OC added.

They will be buried followed by namaz-e-janaza at Gopalganj Stadium after Zohr prayers.
