PATUAKHALI: A rebel candidate of ruling Awami League and Patuakhali Chamber of Commerce & Industries President Mohiuddin Ahammad has secured win in Patuakhali municipality mayoral election. 

District Election Officer also Returning Officer (RO) Ziaur Rahman Khalifa confirmed the result after voting Thursday (Thursday 28).

Mohiuddin Ahammad bagged 18,326 votes to defeat 2,985 votes earner Awami League nominated candidate Kazi Alamgir Hossain.

The ballots were cast in 21 polling centers, from 8am to 4pm.

Besides, 43 candidates contested for counsellor posts to the municipality.
