DHAKA: Road Transport & Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital after he fell ill early Sunday (Mar 3).

He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) around 7:45am, BSMMU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Kanak Kanti Barua told Banglanews.  

The minister underwent a coronary angiography around 9:15am, said BSMMU Director BJ Abdullah Al Harun.

Central Awami League Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua said that the party general secretary was kept at the ICU soon after he felt chest pain.

“He was initially diagnosed with blocks in heart, as per the angiogram report,” he added. 

Obaidul Quader’s Public Relations Officer Abu Naser said the minister was suffering breathing problems after Fazr prayer.
