DHAKA: Critically ill Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was taken to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on Monday (Mar 4) night.
The air ambulance carrying Quader, also General Secretary ruling Awami League, reached at Singapore's Changi International Airport around 8:15 pm.
Earlier in the day, an air ambulance carrying ailing Obaidul Quader left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Singapore around 4:07pm.
The minister who had been undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital since early Sunday (Mar 2) was taken to Singapore as per advice of World renowned cardiologist Dr Devi Shetty.
Earlier, a special ambulance with Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Coronary Care Unit (CCU) facilities carrying Quader left BSMMU around 3:15pm for Shahjalal International Airport.
World renowned cardiologist Dr Devi Shetty arrived in Dhaka around 1pm from Bangaluru via Kolkata of India and reached the BSMMU around 1:30pm for the treatment of Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.
A team of BSMMU received Dr Devi Shetty at the airport. BSMMU hospital director Brigadier General Abdullah Al Harun welcomed Dr Shetty at the hospital, BSMMU Proctor professor Syed Mozaffor Ahmed told Banglanews.
Physical condition of Road Transport & Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader is improving slowly.
“His condition is improving. Output is well and so is the pressure,” said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital Director Brig Gen Abdullah Al Harun.
“A media briefing will be held on the minister’s health status, around 1pm. But he is doing well,” said Vice Chancellor Dr Kanak Kanti Barua.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader was admitted to the Critical Coronary Unit (CCU) of BSMMU Hospital Sunday (Mar 3) morning after he felt breathing problems and chest pain.
He was diagnosed with blockages coronary arteries.
