GAIBANDHA: At least 10 persons including a journalist were injured in a clash erupted over tender submission, among two groups of ruling Awami League in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha Wednesday (Mar 6).
The clash lasted for two hours, on the upazila parishad premise, from 11am to 1pm.
The injured couldn’t be identified immediately.
Locals said two groups of local Awami League unit engaged in a scuffle at the UNO Office over submitting tender for lease of a water body, in the morning.
Afterwards, the scuffle developed into chase-counter-chase and exchanging brick chunks.
On information, police rushed to the scene and opened rubber bullets and tear-shells to tame the situation.
The situation was taken under control. The injured were taken to the upazila health complex and local clinic, said Gobindaganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Mehedi Hasan.
