DHAKA: Election Commission (EC) Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said voting was held in the second phase elections in 116 Upazilas in fair and peaceful manner.
He was talking to reporters after voting ended on Monday (March 18).
The secretary echoed the same after the first phase of upazila elections was done.
Helaluddin Ahmad said voting at eight out of 7,039 polling centers in the second phase elections have been suspended due to irregularities.
There was no information of any irregularities in the rest upazilas, he said.
In the second phase, voting was held in free, fair and peaceful manner. At this stage, we received information about adequate presence of voters in most areas. There was less presence in some upazilas.
As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission (EC), voting will be held in third phase on Mar 24, fourth phase on Mar 31 and fifth phase on Jun 18.
The first phase polls held on Mar 10.
