DHAKA: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) have arrested the president of the Jatiyatabadi Cyber Dal for making derogatory remark about the Liberation War on social media.

Lt Colonel Emranul Hasan, commanding officer (CO) of Rab-3, said this at a press conference at its media center in the city on Monday (March 25). 

Ashek Ahmed, 40, has been spreading anti-state propaganda, rumour on social media. Tipped off, the elite force, in a drive, arrested him from Tejgaon area in Dhaka around 11:00pm on Sunday (March 24), he also said.  

The Rab official said Ashek has posted controversial remarks on the number of martyrs of the liberation war, spread propaganda against the spirit of liberation war. Through which he defamed the country's liberation war and showed disrespect to liberation war martyrs.
