BNP pays homage to Zia on Independence Day BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir talks to reporters.

DHAKA: BNP leaders and activists paid homage to party founder and late president Ziaur Rahman by placing floral wreath at his grave, marking Independence Day Tuesday (March 26).

They prayed for the departed soul of their leader at the latter’s graveyard in Chandrima Udyan of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka, around 12pm.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing committee members Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Vice Chairmen Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Nitai Roy Chowdhury and AZM Zahid Hossain, Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Publicity Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Organizing Secretary Shama Obayed, Jubo Dal President Saiful Alam Nirob, Organizing Secretary Mamun Hasan and Swecchasebak Dal President Shafiul Alam Bari, among others, were present. 

BNP will raise movement accompanying the countrymen to make party chairperson Khaleda Zia freed, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said after placing tributes.
