DHAKA: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir Wednesday (March 27) urged the government to immediately take their ailing party chief Khaleda Zia to the hospital chosen by her.
“Otherwise the government, home ministry and the prison authorities must take liability if anything bad happens to her,” he added.
Mirza Fakhrul was addressing a press briefing at the party central office in Nayapaltan, at noon.
“Khaleda Zia is going through limitless sufferings at the prison. The prison authorities are nonchalant about her treatment. She is being pushed towards death in well planned ways,” he added.
“We have only one demand- let Khaleda Zia be shifted to her chosen hospital and let proper treatment be arranged for her,” Mirza Fakhrul said further.
BNP standing committee members Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Vice Chairman Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, adviser to Khaleda Zia Prof Dr Sirajuddin Ahmed, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, among others, were present.
