KHAGRACHHARI: A Union Parishad member has been killed and seven others, including his wife and son, injured allegedly in an attack by rivals at Tholipara in Sadar upazila.
The deceased was identified as Kali Bandhu Tripura, 57, member of ward no. 5 of Khagrachhari union parisad.
A group of miscreants swopped on Kali Bandhu with sharp weapons in the area around 10:00am while he along family members and others was returning to his village home after a long line hiding, said MM Salauddin, additional superintendent of police in Khagrachhari.
Earlier, he has gone into hiding following a case was filed against him on allegation of murdering father, son over 'political rivalry and a land dispute'.
Nihar Bondhu Tripura and 30-35 of his men swopped on UP member Kali Bandhu and his family members, leaving him dead on the spot, injured persons alleged.
Injured were immediately rushed to Hospital, the police official added.
Earlier on May 11, 2017, Father, son have died and two have suffered injuries in an attack following 'political rivalry and a land dispute' in Khagrachhari.
