DHAKA: Election commission (EC) has decided to use Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the polls to six upazila parishads, under last phase.

Under the fifth and last phase, polls will take place to 16 upazilas on June 18. 

As per the polls schedule, the last date of submitting nomination paper is May 21, scrutinizing the submissions May 23 and withdrawing candidacy May 30.

The upazilas are-- Nakla of Sherpur district, Kamarkhand of Sirajganj, Sundarganj of Gaibandha, Rangabali of Ptuakhali, Taltali of Barguna, Narayanganj Bandar, Gazipur sadar, Kalukhali of Rajbari, Shayestaganj of Habiganj, Madaripur sadar, Bancharampur and Bijoynagar of Brahmanbaria, Comilla adarsha sadar and sadar south and Noakhali sadar upazilas. 

EC Election Management Division Joint Secretary Farhad Ahmed Khan said EVMs will be used in Gazipur sadar, Narayanganj sadar, Bijoynagar, Comilla adarsha sadar and sadar south and Noakhali sadar upazilas.

However, the first phase polls held on March 10, the second phase on March 18, the third phase on March 24 and the fourth phase on March 31.
