DHAKA: The trial proceedings of the cases filed against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will be carried out in the temporary court at Keraniganj central jail, due to security reasons, said the law ministry.
The Law Ministry on Sunday (May 12) issued separate notifications regarding the transfer of the court regarding the cases against Khaleda Zia.
According to the notification, the trial proceedings of the cases are being held in the Alia Madrasa ground in Bakshibazar, the adjoining former Dhaka Central Jail area.
For security reasons, the government has declared the newly constructed building No. 2 of the Keraniganj central jail as a temporary court and the judicial proceedings of the case will be held in the temporary court of that building.
An official of the law ministry told Banglanews that there were 17 cases against Khaleda Zia related to judicial proceedings in the notification.
The imprisoned Khaleda Zia has been undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) since April 1.
Earlier, she had been in jail since a special court convicted her in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8 last year.
