DHAKA: The High Court rejected a rule issued on the plea seeking cancellation of the case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against BNP Central Publicity Affairs Secretary and former lawmaker Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie.
The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam issued the order Tuesday (May 14).
Lawyer Md Khurshid Alam Khan moved for the ACC while Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik moved for the state, at the courtroom. Senior lawyer Zainul Abedin moved the accused.
The court also directed the judicial court to dispose the case within six months, Amin Uddin Manik told reporters.
Annie was accused in a case filed by ACC Deputy Director Md Monjur Morshed on October 9, 2014, on charge of concealing information of property worth Tk 13,13,940 in the financial statement filed to the ACC.
Besides, ACC found Annie's property worth Tk 1,40,42,670 beyond known income, in an investigation.
On May 24, 2016, Dhaka Special Judge Court formed charges against Annie.
