Fair polls possible under AL govt

FROM UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY ROOM: The national parliament election can be held under the incumbent government in free and impartial manner.

The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came up with the obsevarvation in UN general assembly to the world leaders on Saturday.

She also sought help and support of global leaders to complete the trials war criminals of Bangladesh.

The premier said “There were around 5,777 elections were held to elect 63995 public representatives across the country in last years. But no allegations were raised against the polls what proved that the Election Commission is independent and impartial.”

Hasina delivered her speech in Bengali for 20 miniutes which started at 2:10 am (Bangladesh time).

Addressing the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, she said formulation of the post-2015 development agenda is an important task for the UN member states.

“So, we need to be united in agreeing on a common sets of the development agenda that would fulfil our aspiration in building a just, prosperous and sustainable world where no person or nation is left behind,” the premier said.

In her speech, the PM put emphasize on the world peace and development along with the progress of Bangladesh.

She also invited all to take necessary steps to take actions against terrorism in the world. She also mentioned that her governemnt has strengthened the Election Commission, Anti-Corruption Commission, Human Rights and Information Commission to deafeat militancy and redicalsm aiming to strengthen the democracy of the country.

The world leaders welcomed and cordially received her speech.

She reminds the quote of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman--- “"Friends of all, enemies of none".

“In light with idealogy, I want to establish peace to resolve unsettled issues with neigbouring countries, strengthen the rejoinal communication and continue good-relation with rest of the countries of the world,” she added.
