Khaleda doesn’t want to see me alive

FROM UN PERMANENT MISSION: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina alleged that the opposition leader of the parliament Khaleda Zia does not want to see her (PM) alive.

Mentioning though several attempt to attack me, I shown flexible attitude to the opposition, the premier said Khaleda Zia can place her demand in the parliament after leaving attachment with war criminals.

The political crisis will be dodged if she left the attempt to save the war criminal, Hasina added.

“The upcoming national election will be held according to constitution of the country. I can give guaranty that the poll will be held in free and fair manner,” she added.

She came up with the assertion in a press conference on her 6-day program in UN general assembly at Bangabandhu Auditorium in Bangladesh Permanent Mission in New York.

Prior to the press conference, the premier had a meeting with her Malaysian, Indian counterparts and Secretary-General of United Nation Ban-ki-moon.

In the press meet, she mentioned about receiving the South South award for fight against poverty and attaining praise in several forum for MDG achievement and getting chance to place Bangladesh as an important country.

The PM also sought help and support of global leaders to complete the trials war criminals of Bangladesh.

Hasina said that she invited Ban Ki-moon to send an election observer team to Bangladesh to observe the upcoming general election.

She also confirmed that she had a conversation with the Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh about the unsettled issues between two countries.

The premier also blamed news media for recent lose in local elections. She urged journalists to expose the positive works of the government to the people of the country rather only showing negative news.

Answering to a question of a journalist, she said “I wouldn’t mind to have a cup of tea with opposition leader and have a chat for the sake of the country and public.”

In reply to another question she mentioned about the Grenade attack and other attacks on her. She also blamed the opposition for involving in such horror attack.
    
She also criticized the fake birthday celebration of the main opposition leader on the national mourning day.

She urged the opposition to join in the parliament and not to support the war criminals.

If the politicians failed to continue the democracy, the public will be in crisis, she opined.

The media can play a vital role to unveil the development and fair poll system to public, she added.

Regarding the issue of Rampal Power Plant, she said it won’t harm the environment of Sundarbans. The people who are staging long march they should visit the area to realize it.

After the press conference she attended in a mass reception program which is the formal program of her US tour.

She will fly back to home from New York on Sunday.
