DHAKA: Awami League Genera Secretary Obaidul Quader said the rebel candidates of recently held upazila parishad elections and their associates will be served legal notice by the party, beginning from July 28.

The number of the recipients has been estimated at around 200, he added. 

"In a meeting of Awami League executive council, punitive measure have been decided for the rebel candidates of the upazila parishad polls and the persons who encouraged them," he told a press briefing after attending a joint meeting of Awami League secretaries at Awami League President's Dhanmondi Political Office Saturday (July 20).

"How the punishment will be given has been discussed in the meeting,"

Some will be served expulsion notice while some others show-cause notice, the minister for road transport and bridges said further.
