DHAKA: Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on Wednesday proposed to reform the election system ahead of the next general elections.

The former president of the country placed a proposal in a press conference organized by the party at a city hotel.

As per his proposal, the Election Commission (EC) will decide which party will get how many seats on the basis of votes cast in favor of the respective party.

He said, “The fresh proposals will ensure party’s popularity instead of individuals and initiate a better democratic practice.”

The JP President also urged the political parties to promulgate the system in party practice from grass-root level in a bid to evade the muscle power in democratic practice.
